With 7 adults, a vegetarian family and 9 young, picky children to feed we were overwhelmed. Sarah turned out to be the answer to our prayers. She managed this challenging group with patience and grace while creating meals that satisfied all taste buds. The food was fresh, healthy and absolutely delicious. The kids quickly grew to love Chef Sarah as she was happy to involve them in fun child-friendly cooking projects.

Quinoa Bowl

I love to inspire my clients with exiting new recipes for salads and dressing. This quinoa salad is mixed with kale, chard, chopped cauliflower, sprouts, cranberries and garbanzo beans and tossed with a lemon yogurt garlic vinaigrette.

Celebrating a 70th Birthday

Peter called Flourish to prepare a dinner for his wife’s 70th birthday in their Aspen home. The entire family, children and grandchildren, were coming from both east and west coasts. Peter was sure to get everyone’s menu preferences since the kids were especially particular with their tastes. The evening began with an array of appetizers in the living room that overlooks Aspen Mountain. The family to sat down for dinner, and there were ‘ooohs and ahhs’ with each course served. At the end of the evening, Peter and his wife thanked us for making the meal the centerpiece for a very special and memorable party. Here’s the birthday menu:

  • Chicken satay in lettuce cups with peanut sauce
  • Crab wontons with ponzu cilantro dipping sauce
  • Coconut shrimp with habanero pineapple chutney
  • Butternut squash soup with crème fraiche and roasted apple
  • Mixed greens salad with fresh herbs and red wine shallot dressing
  • Herb crusted pork tenderloin with chimichurri
  • Creole seasoned salmon, pan-seared with citrus balsamic reduction
  • Wild rice and farro tossed with pine nuts and parsley
  • Creamed spinach with black forest bacon
  • Classic chocolate mousse with whipped cream and fresh berries

We thoroughly enjoyed a special in-home dinner prepared by Sarah. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and delicious! She made the entire evening a delightful experience!

Citrus Salad

The colors of spring and summer come together in this refreshing citrus salad that is followed by a hearty rack of lamb or pork tenderloin entrée.

Everything was so fresh and we could tell that she uses the high quality ingredients. Sarah was warm, friendly and inviting as well as extremely professional throughout our experience with her. By the end of the evening, we felt like she was an old friend.

Coconut milk chocolate pudding is both decadent and a favorite for kids and adults. This Flourish recipe is vegan and gluten-free. Healthy never tasted this rich and delicious.

My family met for a week in the Aspen Valley to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. We rented a large house to accommodate all 10 of us....My mother has a very limited diet because of a long list of health issues....Sarah was extremely willing to work out a menu and to make sure we accommodated my mom's restrictions. The result? Our family dinners together prepared by Sarah were the highlight of our week together. In fact, we added an additional night and cancelled the only group dinner reservation to eat out. We all agreed that we preferred Sarah’s cooking.

pork tenderloin

Pork tenderloin served with a bold chimichurri with jalapenos, oregano, parsley and cilantro, is a festive option for winter holidays and summer dinners al fresco.

My family of 9 spent a week in Aspen this summer, and Sarah (and her excellent assistants) cooked for us every night, as well as provided some other breakfast/lunch fixings. She was so wonderful and easy to work with, both before and after our arrival, and went above and beyond to provide delicious, healthy, fun, original and fresh meals for us.

Pasta Bowl

Pasta made from scratch makes a big difference. Tossed with gourmet mushrooms, parsley and freshly-grated pecorino, this linguini is brilliantly simple and delicious.

Sarah Mandell is amazing in every way. Her menus are special but she will make anything you want. Her meals are delicious and very fresh. We go to Aspen every year in late June or early July. We make sure that Sarah is available. She has a very pleasant personality and makes everything easy. I am sure after using Flourish To Thrive, you too will want to write a raving review!!!!!!
